Default Moving to area near detroit

I might be relocating to to the Detroit area specifically for a job in St. Clair Shores. I was wondering what area would be good for someone in their late 20s that would be renting. I'd be looking for somewhere that would hopefully have people in my age group and would have some interesting things to do.

Default Mt. Clemens might fit the bill

Beware, they have their bad neighborhoods in the Clem, but it's got a reputation as a hip area for the younger crowd. Kid Rock spent a lot of time in their clubs during his formative years. Royal Oak is definately a "hip" area too, but it's rather expensive, and not quite as close to the Shores as Mt. Clemens is.
