Question Weather in West Michigan

When does the snow stop in West Michigan? I was told that this generally happens in April once the rain and warmer weather starts.

We are heading up the second week in March. I'm just trying to figure out what we have in front of us, although I know that weather is unpredictable it would be helpful if anyone could fill me in on general trends.

Thanks,

L

Generally, it will be cold and snowy. The snow may not be there, but it is usually still cold outside. Bring winter gear!

However, definitely check the weather forecast ahead of time because you never know.....it could be in the 50s

Or 70's, although that's rare. It does snow in March every year, but not usually the big snowfalls.

Keep an eye on WoodTV's website. I think they have the best weather forecasting:

Well, seeing as we have about 14 inches on the ground and a snowstorm headed our way for Tuesday........my bet is that we will have snow for you. Depending on where in W MI you are going.

West MI absolutely gets snow in March and even into early April. I remember a St. Patricks Day parade cancelled a few years ago because of an overnight snowfall of 4 inches.

My birthday is late march. Some years I get to wear capris/a skirt and sandals, some years I am bundled up in sweaters and there is snow all over. Last year, we had a white Easter and Easter was in mid-April!

Cancel for 4 inches???? Geez, we can wake up to a fresh 6 inches on the ground and they dont even close the schools. We get so much snow up here, schools hardly ever close. We just deal with it. If we let the snow stop us, we wouldnt do anything for 5-6 months of the year.

We always get a big snowstorm every March, hell.. I am used to snowstorms into April. It is usually once every year we get one in March and then we get a final one in April. Weather here is horrible, nothing more can be said.

Thanks for the good laugh this morning! You must not have been around the country much yet have you? Not knocking you at all, just seems like a narrow perspective. Wait, I hate to say that because it makes me sound so damn old, but after traveling around the Country a bit, come back and explain how West Michigan weather is so horrible.

Sure there can be snow, there can also be beautiful warm days. There can be rain, there can also be sunshine and darn near beach weather. I have seen both extremes in West Michigan in the Spring, some years all of it within a week or two.
