I agree with TigerDan and WagonProject on Kazoo--definitely a college town with the nice addition of a lot of widespread community involvement from college and non-college related folks. I think its got its share of problems, but its a pretty cool mix overall. I disagree with the poster that said there is a bad town/gown relationship--quite the contrary, at least in the 20+ years I lived there.

I wouldn't consider Kazoo a college town. Sure it has student areas, but those are mainly confined to south of M-43, west of downtown, north of Whites Rd, and east of 9th Street. Outside of those areas, there are very few students. Also, the city doesn't feel like a college town. It's not like Ann Arbor or East Lansing. Outside of the immediate campus area, it's like any other large city in Michigan.
