Avoid CITY schools like the plaque. Gangs are rampant and shootings in the schools are not uncommon. They even had shootings at prom the other year. Stick to Township.

Please don't take this person literally. Saginaw City schools are not rampant with school shootings. There are problems but not shootings. There is one particular Saginaw City school that is excellent for gifted kids. It's called Handley School. I grew up in the neighborhood that it now resides in. Be aware that the city school district has been going thorough many changes in the past 3 years. These include improvements and closings. Handley School has moved temporarily to the area that it currently resides.
As for the Saginaw Township Schools, my son goes to the school that was mentioned in the previous post. It's called Sherwood Elementary. It's an excellent and diverse school. I don't mean diverse as in 50% black and 50% white students. I mean there is truly a good mix of cultures. The Township school district is excellent overall. It has it's fair share of problems like any other school district but most of that stems from the students that come from out of district.
Do your research because it's one of the most important decisions that you can make for your child(ren).
