LOL! To the OP, the above reply is exactly the tone you can expect in Ann Arbor...angry. Not at all welcoming.

Now if you park a Toyota or a Honda to a Ford plant...

We don't welcome conservatives in Ann Arbor. You want to live outside of here in a farm town, that's cool I guess. But don't expect a big hug or smile in our city, unless you're coming to drop cash... in which case we'll fake it as long as you shut up long enough.

Really, the rural west side and far north of Michigan is where you should be checking things out. That's where the true red in the state lies.

I'd say that like most states, Michigan has conservative areas, moderate areas, and progressive areas. You can find all areas in the vast majority of states and you can find all types of people in every state. If you are a party line republican, there is no area in MI more conservative then Ottawa county. For progressives, its hard to find a city more progressive then Ann Arbor anywhere in the Midwest. For me, I live in the UP which is very moderate. Somewhat more dem at the local level and more rep at the national level. the Up is center left on fiscal issues and center right on most social issues.

At first I thought you meant this seriously, but then I realized that no one would purposely sound that hostile unless they were joking and then it made me smile. I used to be a home hospice nurse in Ann Arbor and you would be surprised at the number of truly conservative, traditional people in this city, I know, I was in their homes and got to know them very well. I guess AA is considered liberal for the Midwest, but it would pale in comparison on a national level to a Berkeley or a New Haven.

OP, I don't know if you would be interested in Monroe County, but it's fairly conservative in a small town, traditional values kind of way. Even the people who vote Dem are pretty socially conservative. Monroe is a very unique town in that it is about half Roman Catholic and half Southern Baptist, the former due to the original settling of the area by French Catholics and the latter due to the large influx of southerners who migrated to the city in the mid-twentieth century. The auto worker/union/vote Democrat mentality is fairly well represented here, although it has been losing steam everywhere in recent years, it seems, but even those folks are fairly conservative socially and organizations like Heartbeat of Monroe (an abortion alternative organization) are very active. This is also a surprisingly redneck/"we love our guns" county, considering that it is situated between Toledo and Detroit, and it went for Trump in 2016.

Home hospice nurse? You dealt with old people. Conservative die off. I guess you have no idea of what the real world is like, in real terms, with people who actually live here. You spoon fed some Reagan supporters in the '80s lol. Omg what a sad joke this thread has become.

No, it was in the past few years and I mostly dealt with their adult kids and grandkids. My daughter also just graduated from U of M Ann Arbor where there were a surprising number of conservative kids in her classes and student housing. This isn't 1972 anymore, the times they are a changin'. I know you've been away from the area for some time based on your other posts, maybe you want to believe that you're still in NYC. AA is not NYC. Trust someone who has actually spent time there over the past several years. Not saying there aren't a lot of liberals there, but there are also a surprising number of conservatives. It's the cold, hard truth. Liberals have made the tragic mistake of listing far, far too much to the extreme, socialist Left and honestly, U of M these days is filled with just as many and more capitalistic rich kids as social activists. Abbie Hoffman is dead.

There's no reason to get so angry about this, it is concerning.

They're gonna balance that out with the new law... being you get in if your parents make less than 68K your sweet ass gets in for free. I say thank God and get that mentality outta here with the uppity puppity capitalistic bull****. You pay $15 for a Reuben at Zingerman's... you FIGHT for that sandwich. Rich preppies suck. I would rather literally punch them in the face than have to talk to half of them, or breathe in that Ivory Tower Retard. They should make it a scent. They would probably buy it. I could start bottling it tomorrow... ITR.. Ignorant, Totally detached from... Reality. $200 a bottle and full of flakes. But the best flakes sourced from New Haven LMFAO.
