Default Keego Harbor and surrounding lakes

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what the area of Keego Harbor and its surrounding lakes are like (in regards to living their)?

We are looking at moving to Michigan later in the year and my wife is a keen kayaker. Is this a good place?

I grew up in West Bloomfield Township and went to school at Roosevelt Elementary School (in Keego Harbor).

The lakes are great, prices for lakefront property are very high.

If you're a lake kayaker I'd avoid Orchard Lake..it's a boat parking lot. Pine Lake, the Straits lakes are nice too.

Overall it's a great area if you can afford to live on the lakes

Oakland County's "Lakes Country" is the home of the metro Detroit area's upper middle class and thus decent houses will be pretty expensive (West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills, Walled Lake, Commerce, White Lake, Clarkston, etc.). Keego Harbor is not a stand-alone city but rather a tiny little town in that area; it's part of the Detroit suburbs.

Life in the Lakes Country is great if your commute to work isn't bad and if you can afford it. There's no other area I'd rather live in in metro Detroit.

This is a wonderful area (Keego Harbor, Sylvan Lake, Orchard Lake, West Bloomfield, and Bloomfield Twp) are all very nice cities and twps to live. You would love it if you are a boat person, and love the water!! It is one of the most expensive places to live in the entire metro area, but its worth the money.

The above posts are right about Keego and that part of Oakland County. Kensington Metro Park is wonderful for kayaking. It is on the far west side of Oakland County. Check out that area!

Keego Harbor is a nice area, you have lots of lakes and parks around.
Including Cass Lake which is a good size lake. Gets a bit busy in the summer time with all the recreational boats. Traffic is a nightmare in that area as well.
