First post, forgive me if I didn't follow board protocol and say my proper introductions on a welcome thread. Hi!

We currently live downstate but have been going back and forth for some time over the possibility of expanding our light industrial sewing operation up north. After years of visiting for a week or two on vacation in the summer, we are very interested in moving our family up north and settling in Traverse City. We're a small operation that ships nationally, and we'd only look to employ around 6 employees in TC to start. My wife and I are heading up this upcoming weekend to get a look around and were wondering if there might better areas where we should look for small industrial flex space type units (combo of office and warehouse space) for rent. Something in the neighborhood of 1,500 square feet would be perfect. I've looked online on loopnet and the like, but everything I've found is either larger spaces than we would require or listing that are extremely vague and lacking in specifics. Based on past experience, the area around airports can be some of the best places to find industrial space, and we definitely intend to scout around TVC for locations, but I was hoping someone here could offer a little additional direction for places to look outside of that very narrow scope.

Thanks in advance!! -ML

I know there are some, but Traverse City is growing so quickly ...

I would contact the Chamber of Commerce.

Also I added a link to an article about developing new parks, but it's 18 years old.

Why don't you contact a commercial realtor up there? The seller usually pays their commission.

Since it looks like the OP joined just to ask this question not sure they are going to see it....

The Reddit TC forum probably has more people actually living in TC. They might be able to help.
If keeping costs down you migt check Kalkaska, Kingsley, Buckley, Rapid City etc.

Thanks for the info, all! I did try the Chamber of Conference first, and while they didn’t have any direct info, they suggested I contact a realtor as well. My concern was that since we are still a few months out, I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time. Ben, I’ll give you a call within the next few weeks to talk. In the meantime, do you have a website I could take a look at? Thanks for reaching out!
