Anyone else notice the return of the snowbirds?
I was at the local Trader Joe's during lunch today and I would say over half the 30 customers or so were past 70 years in age. Just last week, there was nary one in sight. I should check out the AZ and FL forums. There are probably a bunch of people posting, "I'm outta here," "it sucks here in FL," and "Goodbye AZ!"

either that or posts like "Thank you God they are gone for the Summer!" Kind of like Michigans post in the Fall about the Fudgies leaving.

I noticed the kitchen light on at my neighbor's house last night, the first I've seen it since the fall. The snow storm today must be a refreshing "welcome back".

My snowbird parents arrived home on Monday. Their driveway is under a foot of snow and ice with no plans to plow. They had to sled their stuff to the house and are now, romantically snowbound.

Snow Birds
Look at Moderator cut: link to a competitors site removed (there data comes from US Census studies), you'll find that Florida and Arizona have some of the highest rates of 20 somethings moving there, the snow birds really don't want to be inconvenienced by this, as with youth comes crime and other negatives. I know of several couples moving out of Naples, FL to the N.E. again, selling their winter homes before housing values hit the floor and staying put seems to be their idea. The U.S. Census page has some really interesting numbers on seniors and their movements, some of the coldest states are seeing a return of seniors! Go figure......

WE cannot help but notice their return. About 20-30% of the residents of Grosse Ile are snowbirds. I am glad to see them return. All of them that I know are terrific people and participate in the community. Since they ar emostly retired people, they do not add to traffic. Thus their return has only positive aspects.

ROFL...and traffic just got better out here That's too funny! When I was in Michigan I never noticed when the snowbirds came back but living in AZ I KNOW when they leave.
