Default UP: Repairing damaged woodlands?

We are buying a beautiful woodland property in the UP. Underneath 2 feet of snow lies an old truck road, maybe several hundred feet long. We need some guidance on restoring this damaged section.

We're thinking we need to "grade" the surface to level out the ruts and crown, do something initially to stablize the soil from erosion, plant something native that will fairly quickly take hold to give longer term soil stabilization, etc. Any suggestions, referrals, and resources would be welcome.

Mike

Check out the Michigan State University Extension Service. Give them a call and I'm sure they can help with ideas, resources, etc. You can find them in the book or online.
