Yeah, Thai Orchid's doing really well. Every time I go in there of late the place is at or near capacity, despite all the construction going on downtown. It's definitely the joint of choice for asian food fans up here. You gotta try the Masman curry next time, especially if you're looking to turn up the heat dial. I always ask them to make it "very hot", although I recommend taking something to towel off with if you do!

My latest discovery has been The Boathouse in Cheboygan. I had mussels for an appetizer, and then the Greek seafood pasta as the main course. It was fabulous, and the service was even better. Best service I've had at an eatery in a LONG time. The place itself is an old boathouse that the Purple Gang from Detroit used to use as a northern outpost in the 20's & 30's. Very unique........check it out if you haven't already.

I used to Live in TC Michigan. The old state hospital is still standing. My mom actually works in one of the suites in the old chapel. They are turning the buildings into offices and assisted living homes for the elderly. Its part of the Munson Healthcare system now, and is starting to look rather nice since they took the bars off the windows.

I was a patient there in the early 60's. (@ the age of 7) The DR's didn't know anything about my diagnosis, so I was put there.
There was a book just written about TCSH by Hiedi Johnson. Heidi contacted me and got information on my experience there. So I guess you can find me in the book.

Not all of the buildings are going to be condos. I have an uncle living in the assisted living quarters. Im sure that they are turning some of them into condos, but over half of those buildings have been turned into outpatient facilities, physical theraphy offices. Again i know this because i used to take my aunt there. So before you assume that i am wrong do a little more research.
