If I were you I would look for the sensibly-priced homes in Grose Pointe or just above it, in St. Clair Shores. There are NO small towns close to Troy, sorry. But Grosse Pointe and St. Clair Shores do have something of a small-town feel.

Check out Romeo, MI.
The east side of Michigan is congested, so you will have to get used to the traffic each day. Good luck! |

You might try Madison Heights, too.

Yeah Clarkston and Romeo are always options. Not ridiculously far but not a half hour either.

Clarkston, Goodrich, Grand Blanc, Fenton. Even Davison is 45-60 minutes.

Oh can't forget Mt. Clemens, New Baltimore, Algonac, Marine City, St. Clair, Marysville, Port Huron. All not too far, especially up through New Baltimore. Port Huron is about an hour.
I would look into: Macomb and Northeastern Oakland County: Romeo New Haven New Baltimore Western Oakland County: Holly Fenton Grand Blanc Milford Clarkston Lenawee County: Brighton Howell I don't think many of these cities would be more than 45 minutes. Also since you want an older house be sure to look at the homes within the "city" areas of these cities, not the outskirts. Last edited by cardwellave; 03-31-2008 at 05:16 PM. |
