PineHill you are right there. Hopefully when I leave and return to visit family and friends I can find a new love for Jackson. I am sure that will happen. I have just spent my entire life here and I feel I am ready and needing something different. Thank you for your comments and feedback, they are appreciated.

you should move to Montcalm County In The Edmore, Stanton and Lakeview Area, there schools are fairly good, that area is an hour from Grand Rapids, hour from saginaw, an hour from lansing and 25 mins to Mount Pleasant.

Try the towns around Jackson. Chelsea is nto too far away and it is one of the neatest little towns anywhere. Great schools too.

I grew up in flint, and have recently been living in dallas tx. The economy is great here but the trickle down effect is now taking place. I started with a allright job making around 25,000 a year but was recently let go because of a poor background, over something that happend over 10 years ago. Now I am strongly considering moving back to Flint, MI not because of the economy but because I know people there that might beable to get me a job at burger king. Maybe someone will help me here in Dallas but probly not, down here its who ya know not how you work. I here a lot of people talk down here how the south has flipped ontop of the north. Sometimes I believe it, but the longer I stick it out, it appears that the flip is only temporary, considering in texas you cant even get a job at a wharehouse unloading trucks with a felony from 10 years ago. I think its probly about time to go home were I might have a slight chance getting a min. wage job threw a friend or someone I know or even maybe a family memeber!

The places where you will find work will be down in the Detroit Metro Area the Tri-Cities have no work (I have been looking for over a year now with no prospects), West Michigan you might fair a little better but let me assure you everybody is going there to get work. If I were you I would probably stay in CA because you would be worse off here I think than you are in CA.

If you're retired and don't mind the winter's -- Traverse City is one of the best places. If you need employment -- don't bother. Your average burger flipper in CA probably makes more than the median wage in Traverse City. If you're starting a business and employing people -- please come quickly.
Aside from the poor economic conditions -- the only other real negative in my opinion is the winter cloud cover. There's just a lot of it. Lake Michigan not only gives lake effect snow but a lot of cloud cover in the winter months. It's the opposite in the summer though. Less precip and clouds closer to the lake.
