Default Two other questions?

Question 1:

I know there has a nuclear plant, shall I keep far from it?

Question 2:

To drive to work in new canter area in Detroit, is there a big traffic issue on I75 and I96?

Fermi Nuclear Plant doesn't have a lot of housing directly by it. There are some neighborhoods down by it but not any cities. Monroe is a few miles from it, but it doesn't really affect the city at all. You can barely see the towers from 75. Besides, if it had a meltdown or something (extremely unlikely) all of Metro Detroit would be wiped out regardless of how close you were to it. I would say the only communities really near it are Estral Beach, Stony Point, Woodland Beach, and Detroit Beach. You can see it all here: enrico fermi nuclear power plant - Google Maps

Traffic on 75 is messed up now do to the Gateway Project that has closed a portion of it completely for the next two years. Couldn't tell you about regular traffic though, don't know.

I commute up the 75 everyday from downriver. I rarely go at peak rush hour. I go to work at all different times between 7:30 and 10:00 a.m. I have never seen anything that I would call rush hour or traffic, but then I am a recent transplant from California. There are some times of day when I am unable to drive as fast as I can make my car go, nut not too many. Even in those times, you can travel at 70-75 mph. Even in the heaviest traffic I have seen, it is really nothing. The closing of 1-75 added 6 to 8 minutes to my commute. You do get s short bit of congestion at Livornois and Clark streets right where the closure is. Probably the same on the other side coming south.

Monroe to New Center is an ambitious commute though. Probably about an hour or more. It takes me about 38 - 40 minutes to get to the RenCen from Grosse Ile. It takes 15 minutes to get to the freeway from my house. Monroe is about 20-25 minutes south. New center is at least 10 minutes from the RenCen. Thus, if you live right on the 75, you are looking at about an hour commute. If you have to travel to get to the 75, that will add to your time.

In the winter, some days will be terrible. It once took me 1 1/2 hours to get home. However those days are rare. Whenever I can, if I notice it snowing, I just leave and work at home the rest of the day. that way you stay out of traffic and get going before the snow builds up.

Newport would be my pick considering the things you asked for. It's more "country".
