Default Michigan Ghost Towns?

I have done some searching on the web and plan to check out some books, but does anyone have any good sources of information on ghost towns in Michigan? The closer to Flint the better - I am already aware there are plenty of old mining towns in the U.P. Would like to do some exploring this summer but don't have much in the way of gas money to spend.

Thanks for any info!

Birmingham just opened up a Google office and I heard the A2 employees are fighting to move over. A sign of things to come? Maybe your beloved A2 will become like Mt. Pleasant - a large university and maybe a casino.

Fayette is the most well-known one, but if you do a google search-you will find some sites with listings of places...

Maybe you our someone can answer a question... I was informed by a friend that the city of A2 has now passed a ordanence that denies interns any possibility of benefits and makes lower wages manditory for them. Maybe that is a sigificant reason for change?

Fayette is a great ghost town to visit. I sits on half shell bay with 400 foot lime cliffs. the state has been restoring the old town. It is quite a drive but worth it. If you go that far go to paulding in between watersmeet and bruces crossing and see the ghost lights. Its a great way to kill a week. We used to hund up there every winter, if you are in to it the frontier stripper bar in phelps is a nice time. LOL
