Water.

We have it in abundance.

Pretty much evryone else needs it and does not have it.

Before Oil became the worlds greatest commodity, eveyone probably thought that there was no hope for the middle east.

When water becomes the worlds most critical commodity, Michigan will change.

I think a guy can spend his whole life studying economics and still come up with the wrong solution to this mess. There's too many intelligent people that don't agree with how we're approaching this for me to have a lot of confidence in it.
This guy has come as close to anyone as I've seen in predicting the current mess we are in. Take a look it's 10 minutes long, but amazing on how accurate he was. His predictions for the next few years are very bleak as well due to government meddling.

There's a guy in Hamburg Township that owns a nice sized parcel out there in Livingston County. If I remember correctly, he was considering building another home on his property and hired a contractor to see if it "perked".

They stumbled upon one of the biggest aquifiers ever found in Michigan. He sells the water to the local communities.

Yep.

He's a millionaire now.

Ifya buy a place in Michigan, then make sure you have full control of the "mineral rights" to the land.

Water falls into that category.....

I simply love your post!!!!!! I am living in Northern Va right now. Can you say $4,000 a month for a "mediocore" house?, crazy cost of living, crazy taxes.....and a wife who is from MI, and wants to go HOME!

We are going for it. I have a federal job paying 90K. KIds are a little worried, but such is life. We are a military family, who have been moving for 17 years!

I am a little nervous.....but when I think about the home and cost of living I am in for...I am set! More money for vacations, and retirement saving. A much better standard of living. MI will be back!

AND-MI summers kick serious arse!

On to MI!

Hahaha....It's August, 11:115 am MI time, 57 degrees and raining.
I'm OK with it though, and YES too many people forget to factor in housing costs when it comes to relocating. Friend moved to NC; yes it was easier for them to find jobs BUT they are between them working three jobs to afford the rent, and cannot qualify to buy a house at NC prices.

I'm sitting pretty in Michigan with a cheap house but NO mortgage and low property taxes...I gotta tell you I feel very secure, housing-wise.

you simply cannot beat spring, summer and fall in Michigan. Most people who live here do not even know how amazing this state is! Sure the economy sucks, but if you can make it here until things get better....WOW!
So many awesome things to do, so many amazing places to see! And thats just the lower peninsula....dont get me going on the beauty and things to do in the U.P!

Agree 10000%!!!!!!

Im going up north (Glennie) Labor Day weekend. After going to Myrtle Beach for summer vac this year, it will be SUCH a great feeling to go north and just relax. MB was fun, but doesnt compare to the simple pleasure of "going up north".
