Default Walled lakes?

We are considering buying a house in Troy, near a lake. I was wondering if anyone lives near this type of lake and can tell me the pros and cons. What are the mosquitos like in the neighborhood, etc. thanks!

I'm not sure if there really is such a thing as a walled lake, maybe I'm just uninformed, but when I hear Walled Lake, I think of the lake/city of that name, and I don't think any sort of man made wall exists, it's just the name.

There was a wall in walled lake. Part of it is still there. I do no tremember the story behind the wall.

Mosquitoes are everywhere. Try Deep Woods Off. or Cutters.
Go right to the strong stuff. Why suffer? Look on line for information. Some repellents and all of the mosquitoes catchers, zappers, attractors, etc do not work. Fogging your yards and the surrounding yards will keep them down for a while. Repellants work well. Soemtimes in rural areas, you just stay inside from 8-9 pm

My sister lived in Waled Lake and loved it until they extended the freeway. She moved to get away from the resulting traffic.
It is a neat place. Schools are decent but not great if I remember correctly.

However Walled Lake is not very close to troy so I suspect that you are not talking about the town of Walled lake. Perhaps you are referring to the name of a specific subdivision?

Walled Lake is pretty nice, I'll agree. M-5 is pretty dang handy though, and I still think it's a nice area to live. My grandma lives on the east side of M-5 in W. Bloomfield.

Okay, so I may have used the wrong term. I am referring to man made lakes in subdivisions. I just wanted to know if anyone has lived near these and what they can tell me about them.

Hmm well my mom and dad had an apartment in a complex with a ton of man made lakes (so many the street was Lakeview Blvd) and I know there were tonssssss of geese, which seems to happen when you put lakes in urban environments, I know there are a ton at the man made lake at Heritage Park in Taylor as well. But basically wherever you have stagnant water, whether it be Orchard Lake, a man made lake, or a birdbath or dogdish in your yard, mosquitoes will breed there.

Do they spray for mosquitos in Michigan? We don't do much spraying up here. I don't react to mosquito bites ( although my mom, sister and daughters are all allergic) but with my luck I will be the one that gets west nile

No mosquito spray where I live. Of course it is way out in the sticks.

I'm no expert but I don't believe lakes are necessarily the problem regarding mosquito's. They breed in shallow stagnant water, usually small pools that gather after rainstorms or that linger because the soil doesn't drain well. The parts of the state that have sandy soil (and thus better drainage) have fewer mosquito's.
