Moving to MI...Saginaw Rental info needed!
Hi, I searched the past threads and needed some up to date information on rental properties in the Saginaw area. I am a medical student that will rotate in the Saginaw hospital system for 3 months (St. Mary's & Covenant). I would like to live close by to the hospitals if the area is safe. If not, how far would I have to drive out to be in a decently safe area.
What's the rental prices like for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment? can someone recommended some properties. I have found out about fox glen apartments, how are these?
Any suggestions, details, advice for a out of towner.
Thanks
P.S. Should I invest in a bullet proof vest :-)

Sorry, if you are moving to Saginaw there will not be much time to bond with you. Yes, buy the vest.

I grew up in Saginaw, been gone a long time but have family there still. Look in the township. Wieneke and Weiss near Nouvel has some decent apts/duplexes and not far from the hospitals (15 min).

Thanks for the replies!
Are Weiss and Weineke apartment complexes? Nouvel on google search comes up as a High school. Is the drive from the Township to the hospitals safe?
How is Fox Glen Apartments? Is that in the Township area or proper saginaw?
Should I seriously reconsider my intentions to come to the area, I am sorry to be ignorant, but I have no idea how the place is?
Thanks

Oh okay...great....phewww...that's a relief...
See that's the thing, I would have to secure something before I get there and won't have time to look around, that's why I am trying to see what are the areas I should concentrate at and get as many names of places, landlords, etc before I get there. Thanks for any help. I do appreciate it.

I live nearby in Midland, and work with people that live in Saginaw county. Most prefer Saginaw township. There are some nice new duplexes on Weiss st.(near the Speedway gas station), I have a friend that lives there, and that areas fine. Certain sections of Saginaw are bad, but I wouldn't say it all is. If you can get a good job, go for it. Also there appears to be new looking apartments and condos right next to I-75, before the Zilwaukee bridge. Around SVSU I'm sure there's plenty of places too.

fox glen isnt in the city and is about maybe 15-20 minutes to each hospital. its alright im sure but if youre looking for a place with fun things to do close by, youre in the wrong spot. theres some nice rentals in old town and along court street. probably almost a mile away from covenant, 1.5 miles away from st. marys. theres even a few nice apartments near st mary's (which is on the "bad" side of town, even though the west side isn't really making too good of a name for itself either). theyre trying to revitalize the area around st. mary's so there might be more rental properties popping up.
