Hi! We are moving to Portage next month and I need to get my very social son some friends quickly! Where's a good place to meet kids and moms when school is not in the picture? Are there any moms groups?

Try the Portage District library (Welcome to the Portage District Library) they have story times and that's a great way to make connections (from which you could start some kind of rotating playgroup or something ). Also, try MichiganMoms | Where Moms Connect and I bet you could make some connections that way. Also, churches often have play groups, etc, so if you tried a church (had to get a plug in for Jesus) near your home you would probably meet some other kids right away. Go to yahoo.com and look for playdate groups in your specific area.

Also, go to the library and local parks. Strike up convos with the other moms while the kids play. I've "picked up" a lot of friends for both myself and the boy that way.
