I know this comment is a few years old (haha) but is there any truth to this "common knowledge" at all?

I will be out there this summer. Some how some way I WILL make it out your way.
Yes I did use a flash on the last shot I posted to get a catch-light. Didn't seem to bother him in the least. I sat there the entire 20 minutes it took him/her to eat his fill and fly off. It was when I got back to my truck that I noticed the ISO was set to 800 and my heart sank. A lot of the series is a bit graphic so I didn't post them, but it was so cool getting to watch this.

I figured as much. I thought " 20 minutes and he only took 3 photos? Nahhhhhhhhhhhhh!" They still look ok for ISO 800.

Beautiful pictures!
I love watching wildlife. Not to get off topic, but I went fishing 2 weeks ago at a small lake outside of town.
There's a long road barely 2 lane's wide leading to the lake off the highway. Halfway through there was a family(7) Deer standing
at the edge of the road. Some were laying down and 2 were in the middle of the road sniffing something.
I slowed down to about 5 mph and had to pull halfway off the road to get by because they didn't even flinch.
As I rolled by, one in the road jerked his head up, looked at me, and I swear he was saying the first thing my wife ever said to me,
"what in the hell are you looking at"?.,
When I got to the lake I was still in a daze,
I dicided to go back, so I pulled out some hotdog buns, .
Most of them were still there. Before I got too close I tossed a bun to them, and then when I rolled by,
one came prancing up and put his nose in the window..
But as I pulled out a bun he jerked back and then the herd moved into the woods.
I scattered 2 bags of bread and went back to the lake.
OH, how I wish I had a video camera.

I had to post this because it was one of those "once in a lifetime" adventures.
