It is a nice drive. We started heading down there off of an invitation from friends who had been going there for years, with a group chipping in to rent a beach house. Our friends...they're from Ohio.

As a Texan I take a little offense to this comment. Granted there are big parts of Texas that are ugly. I personally grew up in the eastern Piney Woods and it's quite beautiful there. I WILL however, admit that Michigan has TONS more natural beauty than Texas does and I LOVE my new state and will NEVER return to Texas. But TX is a HUUUUGE state and it's unfair to classify the state as a whole based on the "ugly parts" Thanks!

Default Keweenaw Penisula

We just left Copper Harbor. What a great place. Wilderness and beauty.

This is a week long tour if you want to see even half of what is going on here.

The water pix is from the Keweenaw Point at the end of Forest Service Road 134 where Michigan ends and Lake Superior begins.

The cannon is Fort Wilkins Historical Site at the state park.

The sign is self-explanatory..

Love Copper Harbor! Thought of buying a motel there, just north of town tucked in the woods on the right, about 10 years ago.
