Nephler, looks like you're bringing your incredible skills to the MI forum now. I've been following the pics. Might have to add Northern Lower MI to the short list if the whole Alaska thing doesn't work out. I always thought a place without mountains couldn't possibly be my home, but you're swaying me here.

Thanks Ship. I now you would fit right in up here in NLP or UP. It really is the lifestyle you're looking for in AK, just without the mountains, though just as beautiful, just different. Oh, and we have snow and snow storms here.

Oh... and less crime up here.

A couple of Sandhill cranes working over a freshly cut cornield in Leelanau County, yesterday morning.

Default Last of Summer

Some summer memories of this year...Can't believe Fall is here already. Suddenly I have a whole pile of pics I never got around to posting- time went by so quickly this summer!

Enjoyed going to the Holland Farmer's Market often- they even had free cooking shows.

July is simply beautiful here - everything is at it's peak of growth, transforming MI into a tropical forest almost. Not to mention the incredible fire flies at night.

Crane's U Pick Farm near Fennville. We stuffed ourselves with peaches that week

Never seen so many turtles in my life... Huge ones crossing highways, little ones crossing back roads, others swimming around.

And of course the beautiful beaches. This one is near Saugatuck.

A typical scene while driving along rural roads. What I love is how MI is full of fields but there is always a 'wall' of dense forest in the background, wherever you go.

One of my favorite roads - just a straight path of endless trees and dirt road for miles. Fall is definitely here... it seemed to kick in just this past week quite a bit.
