We were up in the Baraga/L'Anse area a week ago.

The following are from the Black Slate River.

This one is the left half of "Big Falls"

And the right half of "Big Falls".

Thank you.
We only had one full day around the area, but I found a few of the falls I remembered from a number of years ago. Big Falls requires crossing a couple fords (rivers) before climbing down quite a bank to it.

Hi all! I am just a lurker here because I am horrible at the technology stuff and uploading pics has been a pain for me! But I love looking at all your beautiful pictures!

I have a quick question for all you Michiganders. My mom and I are planning a leisurely road trip next week. We'd like to take US 31 from Northern Indiana to Elk Rapids. Is it possible to stay on old 31 or does it end up being mostly highway/intrastate? Suggestions of must sees, place to stop for lunch or areas to avoid would be helpful!

Hoping to see the trip like my mom and aunts and uncles did when they were kids before 131 was almost all intrastate and we could zip up there is less than 4 hours.

Thanks in advance.

We were in the U.P last week on vacation. I got to see first-hand the damage the fire did to the beautiful Two-Hearted River area. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see everything that once was so beautiful, just total black as far as Lake Superiors shores.

This is of course where the Rainbow Lodge once was.

looking West from the Two Hearted bridge. The fire was stopped just short of the bridge, and a few campground spots. Everything South, East and West is Black.

Just west of the fire, a shot of the Two Hearted river. One of the best trout streams in the country.

This is Grand Marais, where they are protecting the harbor with massive rocks.

A campground view from Blind Sucker #1 or #2...cant remember.

Sable Dunes area

And Lake Superior of course.
