I once heard about an area of N.MI. that is compared to Ireland, as far as the landscape characteristics. Could this photo above (south of Charlevoix) be the area? Has anyone else heard this Ireland comparison?
It's beautiful, thanks for posting.

I took both those photos in marquette. It was sunny and temps in the low 60's ireland? Sure we have hills and both sand beach and rugged rock cliff waterfronts.

Antrim County East of TC is very much influenced by Ireland, and had a lot of Irish and Scottish settlers. Obviously the name (there's a County Antrim in Northern Ireland), but the rolling hills, and homes and barns built of stone remind me a lot of Ireland, which I visited about 20 years ago.

Interesting. So it's more of a colder lower latitude version of the old country, I will have to visit that area, have never made it to that spot.

Thank you!...I've been wondering where it was. I often go to Omena and Northport, so next time I will drive around the bay and visit that area of Antrim Co.

Sunnier version too.

Be sure to check out the county seat Bellaire, Short's Brewing Co, Alden by Torch Lake, and the Shuss Mountain/Shanty Creek area.

I've taken a few pictures of there over the 18 years we've been summering there.

Does anyone know where this is in Michigan? I thought somewhere between Royal Oak and Detroit, but don't know the exact area.
