Not only is Lake Michigan beautiful in winter Lake Superior is awesome too. Whitefish point is magical in the winter and so is Tahquamenon Falls.

Yes, lived in Michigan for 6 years before heading off to the great Alaskan wilderness.
I really do think Tahquamenon is at its best in winter, the lower falls is a bit of a hike but the upper falls are always open and you can always stop and grab a bowl of soup in the brewery after your walk.

Whitefish point and west to Grand Marais are probably one of my favourite places on earth, Superior is just so vast I can watch her for hours. I have literally dozens of photos of that area taken at all times of the year, still winter is best none of those pesky 'stable flies/sand flies' around.
