What is the tall building
that looks like it's four or five buildings joined together? Condos? Hospital?
Yes, those are indeed excellent photos of a prosperous city.

That only looks like the tallest building but the tallest building is actually the blue stripped building in the background. Its a lot farther away so it does not look as tall. Anyway, that building, I believe, is Condos/Apartments/Hotel.

Here is one you don't see everyday in MI.
We took the kids to the John Ball Zoo yesterday and took a couple of photos while there. What a great place; if you haven't gone, make plans to go.
You can "pet" Stingrays, sharks and Horseshoe crabs at this tank.
Hands on exhibits for kids and Adults alike. They have African Drums to play
In addition to Zoos, there is Baseball!
Took the kids to the Tigers/Red Sox game on Thursday to watch Dontrell Willis choke in the 3rd and give the ballgame away. It was still fun to go, and then grab a bite in Greektown before showing the family Detroit.
All taken from the "cheap seats" which gives you a good view of the surrounding area. as well as the game.

Assuming you mean the building that looks the tallest in this shot? That's Plaza Towers. It's actually not the tallest, but that angle makes it look that way. It is funny though that Plaza Towers looks like it's mashed together with some of the other buildings nearby.
Here's the skyline stretched out, looking from Sunset Drive West of downtown, with Plaza Towers on the right. River House, at the left, is now the tallest at just over 400' I believe:
JohnE does do a nice job of shooting downtown. His recent photos of Festival of the Arts are pretty good:
