We have a built in pool and my 8 year old has been in it for two weeks now. The first week the temp was only 60, now it's made it up to 70. Still wayyyy too cold for my taste. Another 10 degree's and I'll be happy. Need another solar cover. LOL

Took this one during lunch while walking along the riverfront in downtown Grand Rapids (from North of downtown looking at Michigan St hill).
From South of downtown, looking over Heartside Park, the arena, and the Ionia Ave entertainment district (you can see the same collection of tower cranes in the upper right):

Here are a few pictures from our week-long camping trip to Hartwick Pines state park this past week.

A stream going into one of the lakes in the park.

A 3.5 mile trail through some of the old pine growth forest.

More from the trail. We all made it. Even our 11 year old golden and 6 month Golden Retreiver.

A Pink Ladyslipper deep in the woods.
A fishing dock on Glory Lake in the Hartwick Pines Park. Nice trout lake!
Coming up on the gorgeous visitor center/logging museum in Hartwick Pines.

Wow! I have not been to Hartwick pines in 20+ years. I feel so guilty I have not taken my kids through such an amazing part of Michigan. Maybe we'll make it over that way around the 4th.
What do you shoot with? You get great results. I'm ordering a new lens tomorrow that I hope I'll have by the time I come up for the 4th.

Hey Jgatti
That was our first trip to Hartwick Pines State Park and it was amazing! Every chance I got I was walking the trails. What a sad day when we had to leave. Oh well, going to U.P in a few weeks near Lake Superior for 10 days, so I wont be sad for long!
Those pics were taken with my Nikon D80 using an 18-55mm lens.
I just got the camera a few weeks ago and I love it! But I still have a lot to learn.

More Hartwick Pines area photos

Our Campsite (#30)!

Just looked cool
Walking a trail by myself at dusk, coming up on an area called "stump fields".
And for the heck of it, a quick pic of Higgins Lake. Had to go since we were so close.

I moved here from the Netherlands in 1994 and am still here. Winters are a bit colder and snowier here but I definitely don't miss the dark, mild and rainy winters of northern Europe.
I am sure you have seen this bridge before but it's not very often there are no waves on the big lakes. Taken last Sunday.
