Nice work! Since I know you guys love the North Country, here are some from this weekend.
The ever changing colors of Torch Lake:
Best and most affordable golf course in the Chain of Lakes area (4 stars by Magellan Magazine). The Farm in Bellaire, MI. (No Boyne, Shanty Creek corporate conglomerate ownership).
Best Beer and best atmosphere in Northern Michigan: Short's Brewery, Bellaire, MI. Try the Huma Lupa Licious, unbelievably good!

Nice shot of Torch. If I could afford to live on a lake Torch would be my first pick.
Thanks for your comments on my air show shots. I just wish I had a better lens and camera. Being that close I could have gotten the pilots with a 300mm LOL

We'll be up there by the 30th, will the cherries still be ripe then? I'm so excited to start my move to MI!

As a kid in the 60's, our family and many others use to drive to Traverse City every year and pick our own cherries,

You may catch the end of the Tart cherries, more than likely all the Black Sweet Cherries will be long gone. Never fear though, this is Mid to Late Summer in Michigan, there is something in season from now until late September. Peaches, Apples, etc.... Honestly, forget what you might have in your head, it is better than you are thinking.
Plus the peaches in Michigan are to die for. I won't eat a Georgia peach. Mainly because when you think about how easy a peach bruises, a Georgia peach has been picked too early for it to be real sweet in order for them to ship anywhere. If you want a great peach you have to live where they are grown. Some of the best I have found in the entire Country are right here in Michigan. Plus some outstanding sweet corn, carrots, Apricots, plums, mint, basil, apples, and the list goes on and on.

I'm eager to add locally grown foods to my family table. Since this is a picture thread... here's one from a trip my husband took to Pontiac last winter...

Here are a couple I took the other day down to the beach... again. We spend on average about 3 days a week at "our" beach on Lake Michigan. The oldest has a t-shirt on because he wasn't supposed to get much sun due to an awful case of poison ivy. He couldn't go another day without hitting the sand, so we made a compromise with him.
This one just screams Summer in Michigan to me.
Took them out on Hamlin Lake yesterday and took these as well.
Now if you look close, you will see the huge snapping turtle my son is looking at. Remember my son is about 6 feet closer to the camera than the turtle is. It was by far the biggest snapper I have ever seen in 45 years of being out on the water. If anybody is wondering the water is about 2 feet deep right there and the turtle is right on the bottom.

I've been latched onto by a smaller snapper, those things have lock jaw, they won't let go.

I went camping in the UP last weekend. Even after living for 15 years in Michigan, I am still discovering new places in this magnificent state.
