Awesome photos Magellan! I love the first one, it is so nice you can just "feel" the atmosphere over the lake.

Had a little visitor today at the house. I don't know how the kids spotted it, but they did, and I took a few pics. A Praying Mantis. Been a while since I last saw one, and then today there was one at my house and one at a friends house when I dropped off my oldest son to play over there in the afternoon. 2 in one day after not seeing one in probably 3 years.

Here are a few pictures from our trip to Alcona County Park Campground near Glennie MI. This park is on the spectacular Au-Sable River!

Beautiful Pictures michmoldman:!..

There are so many things about Michigan I miss., But it's too late to turn back now.

Those calm waters would be great for fishing

Here are some more pictures from our week long trip to the Au-Sable river. Most of these are taken from the Lumbermans Monument overlook, and view from the dunes overlook.

Oh how I wish that were true.
I left when I was 16, with a broken up family, I live in the desert of So Caif, for 36 years. In 2005 I took a 4 day drive through Michigan from Ohio. I stop to see brothers and sister I hadn't seen in 30 years,in Warren, Roseville,Saginaw,(my home town of Cadillac). I went to Mesick to visit my Mothers grave. She died when I was 15. I drove up through Traverse City, on up to Cheboygan to visit a school buddy. Got a Hotel room close to the entrance of the Mackinac Bridge, I forgot the name of the hotel, but you could see the bridge from there.
I drove across the bridge just for old time sake.
Those are memories that will never fade.

My point is: after living in the hot desert, I don't think I could handle the cold winters. I loved them as a kid.
Besides....I might end up assasinating your Governor for supporting illegal immigration.

Sorry folks..back to the topic.

Sounds like a hard life mk, I'm sorry...
It gets pretty cold in Oklahoma, too. I lived in Tulsa in 1981-82.
I'm glad that you have good memories of your trip "back home".
I left "home", for good, three times in my many years, and always came back.
I wish you good luck wherever you are
As for Gov. Jenny, there many that would love to lend a hand.

Beautiful pics! I noticed the trees were already starting to change color this time up (and in your pictures).
