A little nicer today so I went back out to Ludington and took a few more photos around the area.

This is taken from the Buttersville Peninsula looking North toward the entrance to Ludington Harbor.

Looking right down the South Pier.

Ludington North Pier light, taken from the "bend" in the South pier. (too wet to go out to the end)

The birds are flocking up and getting ready to head South.

A woman standing on the top of the Hamlin Dam with some changing foliage behind her. She is watching the last of the Salmon fishermen trying to get some rather skanky last run salmon. (I wouldn't eat or keep one now for any amount of money)

Bought a new camera and took the opportunity to use it on our Saturday morning visits to one of the Farmer's/Artists Markets in Grand Rapids:

Canon SX20 IS. Went for a DSLR with video capability, but just couldn't justify $1000+ for it.

Ouch, for a grand you could get a nice DSLR and a nice digital video camera. I don't know where they come up with their price points on electronic items.

This is getting to be my favorite time of the year. I've been out and about a few times with the trusty ol' Sony and took a few more that are not too bad.

This is little Emerson Lake just to the East of Walhalla (almost exactly 15 miles East of the 31/10 junction)

These are on Conrad road between Ludington and Scottville. Just starting to show some decent color.

There were a LOT of swans on Bass Lake today which sits just in Mason County North of Oceana County on South Lakeshore Drive. This is just one flock of them. There were at least 4 flocks of swans this size scattered around the lake. Worth a short detour if you are in the area this week or week-end. Where the "West Lattin road" and "Bass Lake Blvd." meet is a good area to spot these birds right now.

This one was the sky today at around noon. It was spectacular. I hate that I caught some lens flair and ruined a good shot, but the colors came out so nice I just couldn't delete the image.

Beautiful pics!

I think it's high time people stop ragging on Michigan. I realize it's usually just self-loathing people in the Southeast corner trapped in suburban sprawl and a fading industrial economy, but man what a beautiful state it is. Holds its own with pretty much any other state I can think of.

I wanted it all in one package (digital camera with video capability). I'm often taking pictures and decide that a subject might be good to videotape.

I know what you were wanting, I was just saying that it seems a bit ridiculous to price one unit that will do both, higher than it would be to buy two dedicated units.
