Grand Haven

One last one....This is at Elberta Beach, my number one favorite place on the planet. There isn't one day that goes by that Elberta, Michigan isn't calling me.

WOW!!! What beauty!! NOw I have two questions:
Are the sands real or trucked in? Seriously? We don't have beaches like that at any lake out here I have been to. So I wondered if they were imported...which is ok too.
Secondly...and this is for my mother...are there many bears or cougars around. And has anyone been attacked in Michigan by either? Hmm, maybe I should ask this question on the board.

They are VERY real. It's common knowledge that the east side of a body of water gets more sand...so we get the sand on this side of lake Michigan...but the rocks on our side of Lake Huron.

the sand on the great lakes is totally real-quartz based sand (carribean and others most likely is coral)-the sand "sings" or "squeaks" under your feet when you drag them-i LOVE that sound! the sand around many inland lakes is natural as well-some people on their private property if they live on an inland lake that is not totally sand then they might truck it in....my favorite lakes-Mullett Lake and of course all the great lakes are natural sand

That is awesome. I can't wait to take the kids to some lakes this summer. They have never seen sandy beaches before.
