Michigan is getting too many. I have gambled at a few in years past, but I am able to walk away (never rich ). Some people can't and lose everything (I think there is a tv comercial to that fact), anyway a few is okay, but bringing them in when the community does not support is pretty bad.

I agree!
Actually I've only been to a casino once and it was actually in Canada. I played the nickel slots and won $250.00; beginners luck I assume!

Good for Detroit to have casinos since they need the tax money from it.
Good for the reservations to have casinos to generate an income for the tribes.

Do you spend any time at the Detroit casinos? Look around, they are definitely not good for Detroit. They are full of people that can't afford to be gambling. Service sucks, drinks are expensive......how has the tax revenue benefited the city (other than paying for Mayor Kilpatrick's posse)?
Detroit will never will be a decent city until it is able to get people to move downtown. As long as the crime statistics persist, people won't even consider moving to the city. The city is a complete disaster that, unfortunately, does not have any near term potential.

You'd have to admit, though, if it weren't for casinos, Detroit would of been in receivership a long time ago! In other words, Detroit casinos are helping Detroit city stay afloat.
I totally agree with you about the rest of your sentiments.

Yea but what are they doing to the city at large? Siphoning the money from the underpayed and under educated with games of chance (which in the slots case) that are at least 15% in the casino's advantage, absolutely unheard of. The casinos are a death knell for this area. But what's worse is they don't even begin to deal a fair game in blackjack and this I have some experience in. Also, I understand their rake is bigger than normal for poker. They are criminals of the worst kind, if anybody could get somthing on the ballot to rescind their right to exist I'd be all for it.

This is not to say that their are not some houses in say Vegas that do deal a fair game, but in the Detroit area the casinos are commiting highway robbery, unfortunately Kwame's loving every backdoor deal second of it!

fidel what do you mean a fair deal at black jack? do they deal from the bottom?
i wasn't looking for answers to people who cant control themselves ie: liquor, drugs, sex,and gambling, that is a individuals disciplinary problem which isn't the fault of a casino.
i was looking forjobs and taxes and if the tax dollars were used to invest back into the community ie: urban renewal , which from the previous post it doesn't seem to be happening, is the mob running the unions related to casinos? etc.....
