We were thinking about maybe living halfway between Grand Rapids and Kzoo but would that be a good place or would we be better off living somewhere in Kzoo? He will be working at Flowserve. In some ways I am looking at this as an adventure but in other ways it is going to be a bit scary. We don't know anybody from this area and we are leaving our families and friends . If anybody can give us some direction it would be very appreciated. Thanks
Portage has AWESOME parks and lakes and Kalamazoo has one nice park I can remember called Millham park that I love to visit when I am in town.

Can't wait to return soon..but I'm afraid I might have to wait til around Sept this year.

I know this is an old forum, but for folks unfamliar with the area, I'd say that Gull Lake is anything but a loud gagging noise, or farmland for that matter. Plenty of celebrities have houses on the lake for summer use. It is an affluent area and about 15 minutes from both Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. You avoid 94 completey and take m-89 into either city. As far as cheap, the houses on the lake are anything but cheap, at one time they started at at least half a million to live on the lake, minimum. The school system is one of the best in the area academically and athletically, however, due to it's more small town nature I would only subject children going to the schools if they grow up on the lake. (meaning if you live in Bedford township and happen to be able to attend the schools, I would't socially do that)
