i currently live in shelby township michigan and am looking to go back to school for a skilled trade. i wanted to go into both commercial and industrial electrical field. i called the macomb community college skilled trades coordinator and he told me everyone wants to go into electrical and its hard to find a job in it. he suggested that i go into welding or cnc. im kind of depressed about it because i had my heart set on electrical but i need to go where the jobs are. all the local welding jobs i have seen only pay between 10 and 14 an hour. i am looking for a trade that will at least start out at 15 an hour. i would rather go through an apprenticeship but when i called the ibew in warren, they told me it would take at least 9 months to get accepted and even that doesnt gurantee i will be accepted. i am open to other trades as long as they pay decent. any advice on skilled trades would be greatly appreciated. also can you tell me starting salaries on different trades.

Healthcare, hands down. Nursing, x-ray tech, respiratory or physical therapist.........you'll make decent $$ and be able to work anywhere you want.
