Default Where to live in AA, if older?

I am in my early 40s, single male and I will be moving this summer back to Michigan, I already have a job lined up outside of AA towards Saline. I am from MI originally (grew up in Trenton, WMU undergrad, UT - Masters, etc.) I am looking to rent this next year and then maybe buy, but for now rent. I am not sure where to look? I have seen lots of threads for suggestions for students, young adults or married people with kids, but not us older singles. I would fit well into the professional/academic community for UofM (degree and profession wise), but I am not sure I want to live downtown. I am thinking more south side near Saline, but I definitely want to live in AA. Eventually with my job situation working out well, I would really like to live and buy on waterfront property in the Irish Hills (spent summers on Lake Vineyard at Camp De Sales) Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and if I missed any thread that covers this then please redirect me and thanks.

In Saline, you will find many families and not many singles living in the town. Many of the subs. in northern Saline have Ann Arbor addresses, but are full of people with kids. I would suggest you move into Ann Arbor(city limits). There will be excitement there for you.
