I wish everyone could have been up here lastnight to take in what I saw riding the Little Traverse Wheelway on my bike at sunset.
Families and friends gathered around pit fires, working the grill, playing with kids, just enjoying eachother altogether..... The wonderful Victorian homes in Bay View decorated with evening lights, with occupants reveling in the glorious weather on those comfy porches..... Locals and tourists alike cheering on two softball teams battling it out at Ed White Field on this quintessential midwestern summer evening..... The mesmorizing waters of Little Traverse Bay, flowing gently and lapping against the shore, as if to salute the onlookers...... Sailboats silhouetted in the setting sun..... Lovers side by side, hand in hand, absorbing the romantic spectacle that is sunset at Bayfront Park..... .....and little ol' me, chugging along on my mountain bike....still in awe that I actually live in such a majestic place. Utterly amazing that the world's vision of this state is factories and unemployment lines, when scenes like the ones I experienced lastnight serve to remind me that this truly is a heaven on earth. I thank God that He brought me back here, and cherish each and every day. HAPPY 4TH TO ALL PROUD MICHIGANDERS HERE AND ACROSS THE GLOBE! Last edited by Northman; 07-04-2008 at 09:29 AM. |

I remember once going up to Petoskey from TC and watching their fireworks and at the same time being able to see the fireworks in Harbor Springs. It was pretty cool. Harbor Springs is cool on the fourth with all the bunting it looks straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting!
