Default Flint as a college town.

I never said it wasn't there. I know it's there. I've lived here my entire life and I'm not entirely oblivious. I'm just a "half full" kind of person. Everyone on here was like, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. I'm just saying Flint has some very good qualities too that are always overlooked.

Actually, I can argue with statisics. They can be manipulated to reflect whatever you want them to show. For example, I can argue that the percentage of violent crime in my neighborhood is significantly less than then north end, but you can't tell that by looking at the statistics which look at Flint as a whole. In order to get a more accurate picture it would be helpful if they were broken down by neighborhood or zip code.

Oddly enough Flint wasn't even in the top 10 for city-data.com's list of highest crime ratio per resident (We were #14 after Detroit) or highest murder rate/ 10,000. (We were #15, Detroit was #13). So according to these statistics there are 13-14 other cities that are worse than Flint.

Sorry, to hear about your sisters experience. Unfortunately it seems to be par for the course when it comes to dealing with Flint cops. I have no faith in the FPD, but that's a completely different topic.

13 or 14 cities worse than flint? Wow what a great place. How many thousands of cities are there in this country? Regardless, even if your neighborhood doesn't have such a high crime rate, flint as a whole does and its not very large. Chances are a lot of the areas that you take care of business in (shop, work, visit friends) do have high crime rates. A deficiency in the statistics (not being more area specific) does not mean that they were manipulated.

You could also look out around the Davison and Lapeer area. It is only about a 20 mile or so commute to Flint. My boyfriend's parents lived in a very nice neighborhood in Flint and in less than 5 years it is nothing but drugs and prostitutes. Absolutely horrible!! Move to an outlying area!!!!!!

The point I'm trying to make is Flint is making an effort to change it's image. Gov. Granholm congratulated Flint because violent crime here has dropped 70% recent years. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
