Default Au Gres Info Please

Hi, the family is thinking of buying a cottage/home in the area of Au Gres, MI. Can anyone direct me to any info online I may read or tell me what is living there like? Thanks

Hi, my ex had a weekend house a little north of there where we spent lots of time. If you google "Au Gres MI" you will find lots of info.
It is a pretty quiet, down-home sort of area. Compared to the west lake-side of the state, it's more economically depressed, much more affordable and a bit quieter. Personally I would go absolutely insane living there year 'round! It depends what you're looking for though, and it's really pretty up there.
Are you planning on living there, or is this just an "up-north" type of purchase?

Thanks for the reply, travelling_paws, we are looking for a "summer cottage". Have one now on Sand Lake but would like something a little closer to where we live

Oh, it's great for a summer cottage type place then! If you have a boat or like to go out on the water, there's the harbor right there, and the river.
I always enjoyed the drive up US 23 through all the little towns. The ex's place was in Harrisville. There's a huge arts & crafts fair every year there - Labor day, I think. Not that far north of Au Gres and if you like that sort of thing I recommend driving up for that. Crafters from all over the country, antiques, live music, lots of food.
