Default Minimum Wage Rises Again

This is stage 2 of a three-stage projected minimum wage hike. Full-time pay of $6.55/hr or $262/week will still keep a family of 3 well below the poverty level, and in all likelihood the breadwinner will still be wearing a paper hat asking "Do you want fries with that?" -- but every little bit helps.

In other good news, the price of gas at the Sunoco by my place dropped to $3.99 today!

I thought the minimum wage was higher than 7/hr? At any rate when the amount you make per hour buys you less than 2 gallons of gas........you know the country we live in is ran by capitalist greed.

The FEDERAL minumum wage is what went up. All the states base theirs roughly on the Federal minimum, factoring things in like the local cost of living and stuff. It's a fair question to ask whether the state minimum can reasonably be asked to rise too, with so many businesses teetering financially. But normally, when the federal wage rises, so does the state.
