I am not sure which card you used, but it clearly states on Visa & Mastercard's sites that a merchant can not establish a minimum transaction amount. Here is the link for both:

I often go the library in that area. Think I'll stop in there next time and use my credit card to purchase something under $10.00. I hope he goes off on me because I'm not in a very good mood either! It could get interesting.

i know this thread is old but the company i used to work for used to have customers who were islamic. they would not deal with women in our company, only men. so we had to do everything through the sales guy. if you feel that women are not as good as men then don't do business in a country where women WORK.

The owner of the store is not Islamic. Just because he came from the Middle East region, does not mean he follows Mohammad. He is Christian, as is his wife.

They have lived in this country since the 70's or earlier. My husband who is now in his LATE 40'S remember going to this man's store as a kid. He was always kind to him, and always kind to me and my daughter.

You all should be ashamed of yourselves for ASSUMING that this is a cultural or religious issue. STOP ASSUMING!
