Default Possible Relocation to Marquette

I grew up in Escanaba. When I got married my husband and I moved to Tennessee. We moved around the state a bit, and settled in Knoxville. We really like it here, but all of our family lives in Escanaba. We never get to see anyone, and are thinking of moving to Marquette. We are apprehensive about moving back to such a small town, and don't think we will find jobs. The weather is also a problem since we don't like snow. Is moving to Marquette really a good idea?

Hi jvicks......IF you don't like snow, you'll hate it here from about October-ish to May-ish. We receive A LOT of snow. The good thing is, the county keeps the roads cleaner than down south (at least, cleaner than Ohio, where I am from). They are much better equipped since it's a normal thing here. And, jobs are NOT as hard to come by as people make it seem. IF you are looking for one particular job title then you may have difficulty. But, if you aren't TOO choosey about your job(s) it shouldn't be too hard. When we moved here, my fiance found a job right away and I got one (in my field) a month later. I wasn't really looking when we first arrived.....I applied and got hired the next day. As many of us have stated on the forum, make sure ya try to line up work before ya come and (if possible) don't move right into MQT (unless you can afford it). The rents are extremely high there. The reason I've heard is that landlords don't want the college kids living in their house and tearing things up.
