I don't know about other parts of the state, but here in W. Michigan it's been SO SUNNY this winter! I like winter, but it's amazing the difference sunshine makes in my attitude!

There really has been a LOT of sun this winter, despite all the snow we have gotten. Today, not so much direct sun yet, but still very bright considering the snow coming down.

Really? Here's Bill Steffen's blog from Feb 4th ...

'It’s been nice to see some sunshine. This has been a very cloudy winter. Since the first week of November we’ve had less than 20% of possible sunshine. We haven’t had even one minute of sunshine on 40 of the last 89 days and during that time we’ve only had six days with more than 70% sunshine.

Good thing your moving in the summer, you can blend in with next winter. Just be prepared for a culture/climate shock.

What an awesome thread!!!

Livingston County -- which used to be the seat of the KKK in Michigan -- now has a church with a Black pastor and a mostly-White congregation. I heard not long ago that a guy trying to recruit people in a bar for a hate-based organization got laughed out of the place. That is what I call progress.

NEW JOBS COMING: The county's only hospital is going to be totally rebuilt in a new spot, with more and bigger everything which means JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, both before and after it is built. Please, Scrod, let them have a psych ward that takes Medicaid recipients! And a rehab center that can do a medically-supervised detox!

An existing microbrewery in Webberville, MI (which straddles Livingston and Ingham counties) is adding jobs to start producing a new line of beer named after Kid Rock.

Fowlerville is getting its own Super Wal-Mart AND a Meijer's Superstore. JOBS, JOBS AND MORE JOBS!

The empty storefronts all over the county are starting to fill up.

EDIT: But wait! There's more! The half-time case manager I work with just got offered full-time status with benefits, which is fantastic since she's worked out excellently. The new jail guy is working out great, too.

I also heard this is one of the lightest cold and flu seasons on record.

I"m kinda getting sick of every Michigan thread being about the economy. It sucks and theres nothing anyone can do about it.

Lets all go drink about it.

Good news. 1.00 pints at Rosie O'Grady's all day every day.
