Sociologist, I know what you mean. I'm heading up there for five days, and I already know it's not enough time to do everything I want to do.

Hey, more good news. I'm going to Grand Haven tonight for the Coast Guard Festival finale. I'll be hanging with friends while watching the fireworks on the Grand River. Sweet!

thanks for the welcome! bydand, and

mkfarnam we are coming from Orange County in California. It's funny, we had an earthquake the other day and the first words out of my mouth were "that's it I'm moving to Michigan!" My kids laughed at me..... I'm tired of boxes and packing though- who knew I could collect this much stuff.

We heard about the 5.8 earthquake(epic center Chino Hills) back here in Oklahoma.
I lived in "San Bndo Co." out toward Bakersfield, Dessert Palm and Palm Springs.

You'll have a culture shock, but you'll be amazed with how much fresh and cleaner the air is. And then you'll have 4 seperate seasons.

I do miss the mountains, but I've gotten over that easy.............................................. ...........................

they downgraded it after making us watch the little earthquake needle for the next 5 hours talking all the while about the big one. Disconcerting it is!

Baystater--that is good news!!! Spring 2007, I was living in Ashland, WI, right on the bay and it was sooooo low! I could walk out on dry land to areas that would have been over my head in the past.

Manistique built a new elementary school last year and it is wonderful!

Default A Great Deal

I sold a property out west and took the money and paid cash for a darling cottage on the "sunrise side" of the state. It was incredibly low priced and a reflection of the property values decline. It's in Alcona County which I suppose is "officially" one of the more "depressed" counties in MI. The good news is that I probably couldn't have afforded it in the "good times". I'm lovin' it!
