You might make it to Port Huron in 1.5 hours. It's on the other side of the state but it's closer than Lake Michigan. It's a pretty cool waterfront city. Lots of historic sites and beaches.

I don't think that can be done in 1.5 hours. In fact I'm pretty sure of it.

I know I can't from where I live, but google maps says 1.5 hours from Howell to Pt. Huron. I suppose it would depend on how one drives and the traffic/construction situation. Either way, I would think it is a shorter drive than Lake Michigan. It takes me longer than 1.5 hours to get to Lake Michigan and I am 45 minutes west of Howell.
