You know what I hate is when people hear that I moved from Texas to Michigan, I get the comment question: "why did you move up here?" Thanks a lot I'm thinking to myself. Yeah, my job brought me and my family up here and we are determined to make the best of it.

You should be fine up here. There's not a lot of difference between the cities in Texas and Michigan (mostly upscale Outback Steakhouse-style generica sprawl). You've got nice beaches in both states (quite a few more in Michigan, but quite a fewer months to use them).
The small towns in Michigan seem to be a lot less desolate and depressing than in Texas.
You've got the forests and old mountains up here, too, as well as the extremely unique Great Lake ecosystem and all the coastline that comes with it.

And also the scenery in Michigan is abolutely gorgeous!! I've seen pictures of this beautiful state on this forum and they are just lovely!!
Honestly I'd be willing to give up the constant hot, dry weather of LA for cleaner air in Michigan and if I was there, I'd get to see 4 seasons which is nonexistent here in LA. The constant hot, dry, dirty air gets REALLY old after a while in my opinion.
And let's not forget about those awesome Detroit Red Wings!!

Right you are YAZ...Leland is a wonderful place. Movie, TV and Pure Michigan voiceover dude (have you seen these awesome commercials??) Tim Allen has a beach cottage there and I can see why.
I was at the wine and food festival last June, (second Sat. in June) and it was amazing. Great local wine and food down by Fishtown. Soooo cool!
