I honestly prefer landmarks and location then the famous people but just had to add a couple. Did anyone say Bob Seger?
Anyway there is SO much to love about Michigan. Some of the best snowmobiling trails. Let's just say ALL of the U.P. Cross that bridge and it's magical. The wildlife, the lakes, the hunting, fishing. The odors of spring in the air. Flowers and tree's blossoming.
Some of my favorite locations. Traverse City, ( Cherry Festival) Torch lake. Gaylord ( sorry just have a life long connection) Mackinac Island and on and on and on. Oh U.P pasties. Camping, any one of the many many metro and state parks.

I grew up south of Gaylord area outside the "town" of Waters.. It was magical up there.. I'd love to live there again but too cold/snow for me and no enough jobs But I still go camping up there every yr and my kids love it too.

Waters? Remember the 4X4 shop right off the highway, back in 84 or so? had them swap in a motor for me then. Used to run the Pigeon River Forest all the time with my Jeep the "Mud Puppy" and have spent MANY hours out beating the bushes around Waters. I lived just South of Gaylord out by Manuka Lake.

I used to own some property right near Waters. I guess technically it was Frederic. It was located behind Headwaters Resort. We bought it when Headwaters was in fact part of the nationwide campground chain. So it was a pretty long time ago. Even though we sold it years ago I still take my family to those campgrounds. Kim and Steve the owners ( at least last time I was there) are really great hosts. I rented a wave runner one time we were up there and a friend sucked the tow line into the prop. Steve loaned me all the tools I needed to remove the grate and get the rope out. All he asked was, just put em back in the office when your done. He saved my a$$. I love that area always have and always will.

Then I worked on your house as an Electrician once or twice. Yep, he swapped in an AMC 360 into my fiberglass bodied CJ-5.

That is another GREAT thing about Michigan. Great 4 wheeling areas and good people.
