Say Yes to Michigan!
I copied my post from another forum-"Some postive posts please," but it is the last of 14 pages so I wanted to start another one. I was pulled into this fantastic forum while looking for stops on our way to beautful Munising. Why the hatred of Michigan? So tell me what is best about Michigan.
I think Michigan is great! NO hurricanes, no tornado alley, no avalanches, earthquakes, terrorist attacks. We get some snow, but it makes us stronger. We have 17 electoral votes in the presidential election!!! That means that we are important! Idlewild is a huge part of Black history that was disrespected by the movie of the same name. We have 2 big ten universities and the Red Wings. The Tigers won the penant not too long ago and the Lions, well, Detroit HOSTED the Superbowl. We are pretty safe here and very resilient. We know how to work and we are not weak. We maintain law and order without the death penalty. We have the 2nd largest waterfall in the country. We gave the world Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Patti Labelle, Grand Funk Railroad, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, and ROSA PARKS. Tony Dunge-Superbowl winner (not a Lion, of course). Muhsin Muhammad played in the superbowl-also not a Lion. Magic Johnson. John Smoltz-Atlanta Braves pitcher!!!! And the Republican Party. Faygo!
C'Mon!

And the Pistons! I can't believe I forgot the most underrated team in the NBA! Remember when we dismantled the genetically enginered Lakers of '03? We work hard and do our job. Rasheed, Chauncy, Tayshawn: sorry I took you for granted just like the rest of them!

You realize that a terrorist attack can happen anywhere right? I mean just because an attack happened in New York doesn't suggest that New York is an inferior place to live or anything.
Other than that I respect your optimism, I've never been to Michigan but I'm sure it has some great things to offer.

And fresh water. We had to legislate protection of our water so that those "warm" states couldn't take it!

Hey, J760! I am glad you got so see something positive about Michigan.
Two men were targeting our Mackinac Bridge apparently. I am not so naive. I just mean that nobody thinks there's anything here to attack and that is just fine with me.
There are not a lot of postive posts about Michigan. I had no idea. I guess that is where I was naive. I didn't think it was that bad.

Do not forget Michale Phelps.
We also gave the world the Ice Cream Scooper from Hell (On Survivor).
Probably could come up with some more with some thought.
