We ended up with 8 or 10" again last night. Light fluffy stuff so it is easy to move. So far this winter we have had a bit of snow, but not too sure of the total snowfall yet. I'll have to go look it up. I would guess around the 30 or 40" mark. A couple of mornings in the low teens but not too cold yet. Actually not too bad for the beginning of December already.

I guess I have to eat my words. It snowed like crazy here today, we picked up about 5-6." It's still coming down.

You jinxed yourself. LOL
You were a lot colder down there than we were up this way. We haven't been in the single digits in quite a while.

See it doesn't bother me though. That is why I am where I am and you are where you are. Doesn't make your location "better" for everybody.
This morning was clear skies and a beautiful sunrise. Now it is still clear and a very slight hint of color to the East. It looks great against the brilliant white of a fresh snowfall and the crisp clean air is a joy to smell and breath. A bit of snow doesn't distract from the natural beauty, it enhances it IMHO. No snow and warmer days day after day gets old and boring for me personally. Been there done that, hated it.

Many of us have gave in to that temptation , of warmer climes , palm trees , white sand beaches, especially after a brute of a winter , more extreme than normal.
Those tempting places , can , after a while , start to look all the same , day after day. We start thinking of ways to go north , excuses to visit the kids , or, check upon that investment property we left behind. Whatever it be , many of us eventually move back north , sometimes behind the wheel of our camper , sometimes in a pine box.........

Every year my parents hosted a New Year's Eve cross country ski party. We'd ski for hours through the woods and then when we had enough, we'd head back home and chow down.
I miss that part of winter, along with dragging the smoker out on the ice to cook a bird while slaying bluegill. Ya gotta admit, seeing a tip up flag spring up is a lot more exciting than any football game.
My wife and I are planning a trip "home" to da U.P. She's never been, so I s'pose I'll never get her out of there.

Just as you wouldn't enjoy 6 months of summer.
Don't always assume that people live here willingly.

Great post!!! I lived in a Michigan climate for a few years because I had no choice.
What if you aren't whining, but you just feel really stupid for getting stuck in a place that is un-inhabitable?

Uninhabitable for some maybe, but not for the 10 million who call it home. OK say we have a large number who are stuck here and can't move out for some reason. The other 8 million find it to be quite habitable. More so than someplace further South.

I agree. I'd say 90+ degrees and crushing humidity for 6 months is uninhabitable.
