Apple orchards in the U.P, northern L.P.?
I've been asking around the last couple weeks about apple orchards here in the U.P. that sell to the public. No one seems to know of any?
I usually get ours from where we used to live while visiting family downstate, but we won't be going this year.
Anyone know of any large apple orchards in the U.P.? Or not to far from the bridge if I have to cross into the L.P. ?
Perhaps I should ask on the Wisconsin board to if I can't find any in the U.P. as they would actually be closer.
Any help appreciated, thank you

I don't know of any from first hand experience, since I pick in the mid-Michigan area, but I like this website when I deciding where to go:

Sometimes you need to go on a little journey to find the best things in life...like Traverse City Cherries.
I would check out northern Macomb County.

Only one problem, while Macomb county has some wonderful apple orchards, it is quite a drive from the U.P. My son was stationed in the Keweenaw for a number of years. According top what he learned the climate was too far north to sustain apples for a commercial operation, hence, he was unable to get any of his favorite beverage.
There are orchards around the tip of the mitt; it's possible there would be some in the St. Ignace or Escanaba areas.

U-Pick Directory
Not sure if they have listings for an apple orchards in the UP, but the U-Pick Directory that is published by the Michigan Dept of Agrilculture might have other information you can use.
You can get a copy here.

Not sure about apples, but sweet cherry trees are only good down to about -10F, and even the tart cherries need temps no colder than -20F.
That lets the UP out.

Thank you everyone! I found one through one of those links and my wife discovered that the local co-op puts out a farm directory of the entire U.P.
Marquette Food Co-op
Just in case that helps anyone up here. Thanks again

I cast my vote for Frikske Orchards in Ellsworth (between Charlevoix and Traverse City on us31) And about a half a mile south on 31 is Royal Farms, homier, nicer people there.
