Smoking should be illegal anywhere but on your own property.

Like I said before.......it will be,, but it' won't be "Illegal", it'll prohbited in public places.

What I don't understand is why alcohol is'nt banned. It can create serosis of the Liver, brain disorders, affect driving abilities and it causes tens of thousands of accidents with deaths each year.

Not only alcohol but cell phone use while driving is causing as many accidents as drunks but the government will never outlaw either because the majority of Americans drink and have cell phones.

" Smoking should be illegal anywhere but on your own property.".......OK.................

Hey self serving tyrants...........all it needs is mob rule majority democracy to be a minority/protected class.

It's not a health issue if those people who smoke want to sit around together at some club or bar and you choose not to go into it.

They already smoke. If they want to sit together and socialize over a beer, how does that hurt you? Just have a sign posted outside the door advising everyone who might enter whether it's smoking or non-smoking.

Then those of us who don't smoke and don't want to inhale the smoke of others will choose to go elsewhere.

True. Smokers on their way home from a social event are not going to smash into my car and kill or hurt me.

Drinkers do far more serious damage to others than do smokers (as long as I'm not forced to enter a home or club of a smoker). Let's just bring back Prohibition!

Whoever forced you to go into a bar or club where there was smoking? I don't smoke and it should be my choice not to go to bars where there is smoking. Same if I don't drink and don't want to be around drinkers. Just don't go in. Find somewhere else to go.

It should be up to the owners of the establishments. Not the government.

If the owners were smart and informed, government would not need to step in. As far as this issue goes, an amazing amount of business owners in Michigan are unable to comprehend the benefits of a smoke-free establishment

We've had smoking bans in New England now for several years, and it is wonderful. Of course, the smokers are all crying because they truly believe they have the right to polute the air non-smokers breath. I work in a pulmonology ward in a major hospital and its filled with (former) smokers, pretty much all of them thought lung cancer, emphysema, et al were something that only happens to somebody else. I have one patient who's a single mother, 27 y.o., smoked since whe was 13, sadly she'll be dead by the end of the year. ---I love em though, the misery of smokers keeps me employed.
