Here's some that are still in existance in Michigan.

Think there's one left in TC and another in South Haven. Been a while since I've been to either place though - could be gone with the wind!?!?!

AAHhhh...
Sneaking people in the trunk, a tarp over the bed of a pick -up...
Nicknames:
Passion Pit, Submarine Races, etc.
How about the playgrounds in front of the screen?
Poppin' your own corn and bringing it in a brown grocery bag?
No need to bring soda for your mixed drinks....

Yeah, the drive-ins bring back fond memories. I do remember them. And speaking of theaters, I live near the Getty 4, which I'm glad has survived; we still go there every year. I've been going there since I was a little kid (now 40). Another to the north of here I also remember well; it saddens me to see it in the state of disrepair it's lapsed into. I fantasize occasionally about buying it and opening it back up... if not for the fact that movies are all garbage nowadays.

The memories!
My uncle had a drive-in (restaurant) in the thumb area -- we used to help the servers out all day -- I even worked there for a short period -- the memories -- those were the good ole days.
I remember my aunt loading all 9 of us kids in the station wago -- all of us in a pajamas with our own popcorn -- heading to the drive in up north (thumb area).
Sad that my kids won't experience any of those kind of memories.

I love the Cherry Bowl in Honor outside of TC. I spent 5 summers working at a camp close to there and either went with a group of counselors or went to the movies myself on days off. I loved the vintage ads with the dancing popcorn, candy and Cokes. When I now visit the area a couple times a year, I'm usually driving by during the day but sigh for those days gone by as I drive past.

There used to be a couple in Adrian; one of them or maybe both had two different screens. Can remember the line-ups along the road to get in for some movies. I remember the parents loading us kids up in the back of the truck with the popcorn and treats as others have mentioned.
Then when older going on dates and watching some of the movie or going and just partying.
